The beginning of New Moon, told in a very depressing manner. xD The idea was to show how conflicted Bella is at the breakup. The happy memories of their summer together, and the break up and the birthday scene specifically as a contrast to the happy times. The idea that Edward had told her only months ago that they would be an item 'forever' and then how that was all a lie (or so Bella thought). The flickers don't really represent anything, but you can pretend they imply confusion and irrationality. :)
